Transitional & Supported Employment Success Story: Jason Neely

Jersey Cape Diagnostic, Training, and Opportunity Center, Inc. is proud to share the remarkable success story of Jason Neely, a testament to the transformative impact of our Transitional Employment and Supported Employment services. Jason's journey from our Transitional Employment service to thriving in community-based work showcases our organization's commitment to providing comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services for individuals with disabilities.

Transitional Employment Service: Building Confidence and Skills

Jason Neely began his journey with Jersey Cape in our Transitional Employment service, where individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to earn a steady paycheck in a safe, structured, and purposeful environment. This program focuses on training job task performance, developing employment-related soft skills, and addressing barriers faced by individuals with disabilities. Through a combination of career counseling and transitional employment, Jersey Cape offers a work training environment that mirrors community career opportunities.

Transportation is facilitated, and accommodations are highly flexible, ensuring that participants can engage effectively in the program. Jason Neely's success story highlights the organization's commitment to advancing opportunities for a livable wage in community employment throughout the Jersey Cape region.

Supported Employment Service: Guiding Individuals to Integrated Employment

Jason's journey continued as he transitioned to Jersey Cape's Supported Employment service, which offers a mobile and community-based approach to assist qualified individuals in selecting, attaining, and retaining integrated employment. Professional career counselors provide comprehensive support, including vocational assessments, career counseling, job search assistance, job skill training, and long-term follow-up support. Jason is currently working for Middle Township Clean Communities.

In this phase, individuals like Jason work closely with dedicated employment consultants who guide them in strengthening job-related skills, preparing for the application and interview process, mastering essential job functions, and learning strategies to stay employed.

Jason Neely's success is evident in his transition through our services. This accomplishment not only highlights the effectiveness of Jersey Cape's services but also emphasizes the importance of personalized support in fostering confidence and facilitating successful transitions to community-based employment.

"Four years ago, I didn't think I would ever be in a position where I felt confident enough to want to branch out and work in the community, but once I finally decided I wanted to, my counselor was able to help me find my desired job in 6 weeks", said Jason. "Having the opportunity to get out of the workshop and be able to give back to my community is a blessing, especially knowing that I have the support of the staff and my peers from Jersey Cape. For anyone who doesn’t think they can be successful in getting a job, think again."
